The population of Cochrane in 1909 was 350
It is now over 14,000 and continuing to grow!Cochrane is in a beautiful valley surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, has all four seasons and experiences warm West winds called Chinooks.
Chinooks: Along the eastern slopes of the Rockies, the Chinook wind provides a welcome respite from the long winter chill. The change can be dramatic. On Jan.11, 1983, the temperature rose 30 degrees Celsius (from minus 17 to plus 13) in just 4 hours.
Cochrane always has fresh snow due to Chinooks coming and melting it away and new snow falls!!
